Why see Kinky Boots?
Johannes Radebe will not be performing in the midweek matinees on Wednesday 12th February and Thursday 13th February when the role of Lola will be played by Newtion Matthews.
Starring Johannes Radebe* And Dan Partridge!
Making dancing, twirling and somersaulting in heels look easy since it sashayed into London's Adelphi Theatre in 2013, Cindy Lauper and Harvey Fierstein's musical has taken the world by storm with its message of acceptance, a cracking pop-filled score and a dizzying amount of fabulousness. Garnering six Tony and three Olivier awards, let your hair down and step on down for this new tour starring Strictly Come Dancing sensation Johannes Radebe, Grease's Dan Partridge and Legally Blonde's Courtney Bowman.
What Is The Story Of Kinky Boots?
Set in Northampton, London-bound Charlie Price is surprised to suddenly inherit his beloved father's shoe factory and even more surprised to find that handmade men's dress shoes are no longer quite as in vogue as they used to be. Facing closure, a dejected Charlie chances upon Lola, the charismatic, brassy and fabulous drag queen and finds himself forming an unlikely business partnership, creating custom shoes for drag queens, which will change their lives forever...
Did You Know?
Kinky Boots is based on the 2005 film starring Joel Edgerton and Chiwetel Ejiofor but that in turn was based on the true story of family-run shoe factory W.J. Brooks Ltd that fought to save their business by creating fetish footwear for men under the name 'Divine Footwear'.
*The part of Lola will be played by Newtion Matthews in Oxford and Brighton.
