Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat

Why see Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat?

Go Go Go Joseph

With Joe McElderry as Pharoah!

It's back! After sell-out runs in London's West End, Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat is being donned once more for a fantastic jaunt around the country. Having now surpassed its 50th birthday musical theatre fans will be delighted that Joseph and his extravagant threads are back on stage where they belong once more.

First fashioned as a musical concept album that was performed at Colet Court School, the success of the duo's next venture, Jesus Christ Superstar, saw a revival of interest in the show, with its first West End production following in 1973.

Since then, it has gone on to become an international megahit, a highly sought-after show that sees productions range from glitzy theatrical juggernauts to delightful local concerts, all capturing the magic of ALW and Tim Rice's exuberant music and storytelling.

The Story Of Joseph And His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

With songs ranging from hopeful ballads (Any Dream Will Do) to vaudeville and rock'n'roll infused confections (King of My Heart and Benjamin Calypso among many others), Joseph tells the story as written in Genesis, of the youngest brother of 12 and the extraordinary journey he is sent on when his siblings set out to kill him for being his father's favourite. From attempted murder victim to pet of the Pharaoh of Egypt, Joseph soars with his singular talent of being able to interpret dreams and predict the future. But don't let all that murder stuff put you off, this is a joyful show brimming with heart, hope and a lot of showbiz pizazz!

A really great show!

I have seen the show at least twice before and this was by far the best production. The bright costumes, sets and props were excellent but above all the performances of Linzi Hateley, Jak Yarrow and Jason Donovan were outstanding. In addition the clever use of the narrator as Jacob and Potiphar's wife and the superb kids in various parts was a genius idea. We had a great view and we enjoyed this fun and engaging show ... and I was delighted to see Jason Donovan who was really well received by the audience! Thanks to the cast, musicians and all who gave us a great evening out. ... Read more

Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon

I hadn't seen the show before but 1 of my company had seen the show with Philip Scholfield. Totally reworked for modern day and it was FANTASTIC. the story was brilliantly done. The Narrator was PHENOMENAL, she knows how to work a crowd - hats off to her. Jason Donovan as the Pharoh was brilliant, he embraced the part fantastically and the crowd loved him. The part of Joseph was also very well done. The kids are brilliant as always, they can make or break a show, and they helped make it superd. All in All : - Hats off 10/10 ... Read more

All singing, all dancing jazz hands!

I saw Joseph many years ago and don’t remember much about it but I was not expecting that! The performances were brilliant and exhilarating. Jason Donovan was outstanding, he still got it! After they came out after their encore, they came back out and got everyone up to sing along and dance! That was like an extra show itself. That was great fun. My 14 year didn’t know the story of Joseph but he thought it was amazing and had a great time. The only negative is a technical issue, it is uncomfortably loud, my son’s ears were ringing afterwards (not good), my sister was in stalls she found it spoiled the experience. I would definitely not take young kids. ... Read more
